I like to think of myself first and foremost as a photographer. However, I am also an independent publisher of books on art and photography, as well as a provider of prepress and design services for artists who are self publishing their own work.

My university training was for the most part in Mathematics and Physics. However, I also studied Graphic Design informally, and am self taught in the world of Photography. I believe that all of my studies have been very helpful in my forty five year career.

My first camera was purchased during my graduate student days in Physics. Two years later I was introduced to the world of Graphic Design & Photography, effectively ending my career in Physics. In 1974 I hung out my shingle as an Architectual Photographer and had a rather long and successful career, specializing for the most part photographing interiors. I also did work for artists, primarily glass artists, and photographed food as well as products in the studio.

The primary subjects for my personal work are nature, and abstract images of the urban environment. Both subjects I find fascinating. I find it very gratifying to create an image that gives pleasure to others, and in some cases makes them wonder what exactly is it that they are seeing.

I also enjoy photographing objects and blowing up the print much larger than life, taking it out of context. Most of my work is created with a 4 x 5 inch view camera, and the amount of detail captured is amazing.

At any rate, the reason I photograph is personal pleasure, plain and simple. My worst day creating images for myself is better than the best day I ever had in the office.
