My prints are made using inkjet technology. My current papers of choice are Museo Silver Rag and Canon Platine Fibre Rag, cotton based archival quality papers that do not contain optical brighteners. They will not yellow with time, unlike most other papers. The inks l prefer using are Epson Ultrachrome K3 encapsulated pigments. They are thought to remain fade proof for approximately one hundred years in an environment suitable for exhibiting fine art.
The photos are taken with film, usually 4 x 5 inch color transparencies. I then drum scan the film, typically at ~5000 dpi resulting in a file size of approximately 1.2 GB. I have made files as large as 6 GB for special projects.
The files are then edited in much the same way as I used to edit prints made in a dark room. Areas are selectively dodged and burned. Global and local areas have their color adjusted. However, unlike the dark room, my control is much more precise on the computer. When I am finished I have a file I can print multiple times exactly the same. And I have a file that I can adjust at a later date if I should change my mind.
Most images are reproduced in limited editions of thirteen prints, plus two artist proofs. Sizes are available from 20 x 25 inches up to 44 x 55 inches. Both smaller and larger sizes may well be available, and framing is also an option.
